Anya Hindmarch’s eco friendly Universal Bag makes its PH debut at The Marketplace

A new fashion-meets-sustainability item has quietly arrived in the Philippines. British designer Anya Hindmarch has officially launched her well known Universal Bag locally, with The Marketplace Fresh serving as its exclusive retail partner.

This marks the first time the Universal Bag is being sold in the country. The Marketplace also stands out as the first local retailer to carry both available versions, the regular tote and the smaller mini size, giving Filipino shoppers more options right from the start.

Originally released in 2021, the Universal Bag is one of Hindmarch’s biggest sustainability efforts so far. The reusable tote is made entirely from recycled materials and can be recycled again after long term use. It was designed to handle daily errands and grocery runs, encouraging people to move away from disposable plastic bags.

The Universal Bag is part of a wider global initiative that partners with major supermarkets around the world. It has already been introduced in stores such as Waitrose in the United Kingdom, Coles in Australia, City’Super in Hong Kong, FairPrice Finest in Singapore, and Seijo Ishii in Japan. The Philippines now joins this growing international list through The Marketplace.

Local pricing keeps it accessible for everyday shoppers. The mini version is priced at PHP 699, while the regular size sells for PHP 899. Both are set to roll out in 38 The Marketplace branches nationwide starting this December.

Shoppers interested in getting one are advised not to wait too long. The bags are being released in limited quantities, and once stocks run out, availability may not be guaranteed.
