Mike Tan Gets Lost Phone Back with Help from Mall Guards and a Bit of Luck
Losing your phone can be a nightmare, especially when it holds all your important memories and files. That’s exactly what happened to Kapuso actor Mike Tan recently. But thanks to alert mall security and a bit of luck, the story had a happy ending.
Mike had left his phone at a restaurant without realizing it. Luckily, the place had CCTV cameras, and the footage showed a woman picking up the device and walking off. The actor shared the video on Instagram on May 25, asking for help from the public.
Just a day later, Mike updated his followers through Facebook, saying that the phone had been returned. He took down the original post, explaining that mall security recognized the woman when she returned to the same area.
Apparently, this wasn’t the woman’s first visit. Restaurant staff said she had previously come in carrying canned goods and other outside food, which she consumed without ordering anything from the restaurant. Mike even found more than 200 photos on the phone, most of them taken at different dining spots. In two cases, she brought her own ice cream and bread.
The police believe the woman may be dealing with mental health issues, so they coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure she gets the care she needs.
Even though the phone case was gone, the device itself was in good shape. More importantly, Mike confirmed that none of his files were touched. He was especially thankful that precious photos and videos of his children, which hadn’t been backed up, were still there.
Mike ended his update by thanking everyone who reached out and helped bring his phone back. It was a reminder that a quick response and a caring community can make a big difference, even in a stressful moment like this.
