A legal issue involving Bacolod congressman-elect Albee Benitez and his wife Dominique “Nikki” Lopez Benitez has caught public attention after a complaint was filed in court, and surprisingly, actress and vlogger Ivana Alawi's name was brought up in the mess.

According to the complaint-affidavit filed by Dominique at the Makati Regional Trial Court, she is accusing her husband of violating Republic Act 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act. The document includes claims about emotional and psychological abuse, pointing to her husband's alleged infidelity as a major cause of distress.

The biggest bombshell? Dominique mentioned Ivana Alawi in her affidavit. She said she had long heard whispers of her husband's affairs, but things only became clear when she received a copy of his petition for annulment. It was in that document, she said, where Albee admitted to fathering two children out of wedlock and hinted at a current romantic relationship with Ivana.

Dominique described her feelings upon learning the full story as overwhelming and heartbreaking. Her sense of betrayal, she said, came not just from the infidelity but from the years of deception.

Some are now asking why Dominique waited so long to file a VAWC case, especially since she and Albee have reportedly been living separately for over two decades. Sources say the couple has had a separation of properties since 21 years ago. Others believe the timing might be linked to the annulment Albee is currently pursuing, possibly to make his rumored relationship with Ivana official.
