JM Ibarra Receives Online Death Threats, Star Magic Vows to Protect Its Artists

Star Magic is speaking up after disturbing online threats were directed at one of their rising stars, JM Ibarra. In a strong statement, the talent management group made it clear that it will not ignore threats like these and is ready to take legal steps if things escalate.

It all started when a fan account posted a chilling comment online. The user claimed that Ibarra wouldn’t make it past his June show, hinting they had “hired a hit man” to harm him. The post also mentioned Fyang Smith, JM's on-screen partner, and their former "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate Jarren Garcia. The account described Ibarra as a “thorn” in the love team known as “JarFyang,” which refers to Smith and Garcia.

The situation quickly caught the attention of Star Magic. “We don’t tolerate threats, hateful language, or personal attacks against any of our artists. These actions are dangerous and could have serious consequences,” the company stated. They also emphasized that they are ready to pursue legal action if needed.

As of now, Ibarra, Smith, and Garcia have yet to comment publicly. The three were part of "Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11," which wrapped up in October, with Smith crowned the big winner.

Since the show, Ibarra and Smith have been busy. They recently lent their voices to the Filipino dub of the South Korean film Picnic, marking their first major project together outside of TV. Before that, fans saw their chemistry in the music video for Regine Velasquez’s Wherever You Are.

While it's disheartening to see young stars facing this kind of hostility, it's encouraging to know they have strong support from their management team. No artist deserves to be threatened for simply doing their job.
