Kim Kardashian Reacts After Paris Robbers Found Guilty

Years after the shocking 2016 Paris hotel robbery that left Kim Kardashian shaken, a French court has finally handed down verdicts to those involved. While the sentences were lighter than many expected, Kim expressed appreciation for the justice system’s effort to close this chapter of her life.

Back in October 2016, Kim, then 35, was staying in a luxury hotel during Paris Fashion Week when she was robbed at gunpoint by a group of intruders. They tied her up, taped her mouth, and made off with $10 million worth of jewelry, including a massive diamond ring from her then-husband Kanye West. Most of the stolen items were never recovered.

Now, nearly nine years later, ten people, nine men and one woman, faced trial. Among them was Aomar Ait Khedache, the group's ringleader, who received the longest sentence: three years in prison and five years suspended. However, because he already served time in detention, he and the others won’t be going back to jail.

Other men convicted, including Yunice Abbas, Didier Dubreucq, and Marc-Alexandre Boyer, were given similar terms. Interestingly, many of the robbers are now elderly, earning them the nickname "Grandpa robbers" in the French media. Some of them left the courtroom carrying luggage, clearly prepared for the worst.

Two suspects accused of providing Kim's location were acquitted. During the trial, the judge acknowledged the harm caused but also noted the frail health of some of the accused as a reason not to imprison them again.

Kim, now deeply involved in criminal justice reform, released a heartfelt message through her lawyers. She called the robbery “the most terrifying experience” of her life, saying it had left a lasting mark on her and her family. Still, she emphasized growth and forgiveness. In court, she even accepted an apology letter from Khedache, saying she believed in second chances, even if the trauma would always be part of her story.

Her legal team added that she’s ready to move on and continue her work to support victims and those seeking redemption in the justice system.

This robbery, one of the biggest targeting a private citizen in France in the last two decades, may finally be reaching its end, but the memory of that night, and its impact, is something Kim says she’ll never forget.
