Jasmine Curtis-Smith Leads Ensemble Cast in Queer Cinemalaya Film ‘Open Endings’

Jasmine Curtis-Smith is stepping into a powerful new role this year as she headlines Open Endings, one of the standout entries in the upcoming 2025 Cinemalaya Film Festival. The film brings together four compelling female leads, with Jasmine at the center, joined by Klea Pineda, Janella Salvador, and Leanne Mamonong.

Jasmine, known for her recent work in Asawa ng Asawa Ko, shared the announcement with excitement on social media, calling the project a special one. In Open Endings, she portrays one of four queer women navigating the complexities of friendship, identity, and love after their romantic relationships have ended.

What makes the story unique is how these ex-lovers have grown into best friends, but everything shifts when one of them makes a major life decision that challenges their bond. The film takes a deeper look at how people evolve, and how love, no matter the form, can leave lasting marks.

Alongside Jasmine is Klea Pineda, who currently stars in the GMA series Binibining Marikit. Also joining the cast is Janella Salvador, adding her depth to the story with her own strong fan following, and Leanne Mamonong of the music duo Leanne & Naara, who brings a fresh perspective from the world of OPM to the indie film scene.

Directed by Nigel Santos, Open Endings aims to showcase real and diverse experiences within the LGBTQ+ community, especially through the lens of female relationships. With such a strong cast of women who each bring their own following, personality, and artistry, this Cinemalaya entry is shaping up to be one of the festival’s most talked-about films.
