Inigo Pascual on Being Compared to Piolo: "It's an Honor, Not a Burden"

Inigo Pascual has always been proud of his roots, and that includes being the son of Piolo Pascual, one of the most beloved actors in the Philippines. In a recent interview with Boy Abunda, the young actor and singer opened up about how he truly feels when people compare him to his famous father.

For Inigo, being Piolo’s son isn’t something he wants to run from or “overcome.” Instead, he sees it as part of who he is. “I wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for him,” he shared, adding that having a parent like Piolo opened doors for him in showbiz, and that’s something he deeply values.

Rather than feeling weighed down by the constant comparisons, Inigo embraces them with pride. He admits that he might not know if he’ll ever match the level of success Piolo has achieved, but just being mentioned in the same sentence as his dad is already a huge honor.

Inigo also mentioned how he often brags about Piolo’s youthful looks to his friends. He laughs about how people can’t believe the man they see is actually his dad and not his older brother. That playful pride shows just how close and supportive their relationship is.

As for his career, Inigo shared that he's currently in a season of transition. After spending time in the U.S. to pursue international projects, including his role in the American series Monarch, he says he's now focused on returning to the Philippines and making the most out of the opportunities here.

He isn’t turning his back on international work though. He says that while the Philippines is his home, he’s open to grabbing any chance that comes his way in the U.S. as well. It's all about finding balance and continuing to grow as an artist in both markets.

Reflecting on his time filming Monarch, Inigo recalled how nerve-wracking his first day was. Unlike the Philippine setting, where actors often have handlers or road managers, in the U.S., he had to manage things on his own. Despite the nerves, he was warmly welcomed by the cast and crew, which made him feel right at home.

It's clear Inigo is charting his own path, one that's guided by gratitude, ambition, and a strong sense of self.
