DZMM Makes Its Big Comeback on Airwaves After 5 Years
Five years after going off the air, one of the Philippines’ most recognized radio names is back. Starting May 29 at 8 PM, DWPM Radyo 630 is officially returning to its iconic name, DZMM Radyo Patrol 630.
For many Filipinos, DZMM wasn't just another station on the AM band, it was a daily habit, a source of credible news, and a platform for public service. Its sudden silence in May 2020 left a gap in local media, when ABS-CBN lost its broadcast franchise and was forced to shut down its radio and TV operations, including DZMM.
In the years that followed, DWPM 630 kHz filled the void left by DZMM. While it provided news and commentary, many still longed for the familiar voices, signature soundbites, and the "Radyo Patrol" identity that they had grown up with.
Now, that wait, five years long, is finally over.
Philippine Collective Media Corporation, with ABS-CBN as a minority stakeholder, is rebranding DWPM back to DZMM. The change is more than just a logo swap. It's a signal that the station's commitment to public service and real-time news remains strong, even without a full broadcast franchise.
At the same time, Teleradyo Serbisyo, the cable and digital version of the radio program, will now be known again as DZMM Teleradyo. Long-time anchors and public service personalities like Noli De Castro, Charo Santos, Doris Bigornia, and Alvin Elchico are back behind the mic, continuing what they do best, delivering news that matters.
You can tune in to DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 on the AM frequency at 630 kHz in Metro Manila, or watch DZMM Teleradyo via cable, satellite, Facebook, and YouTube.
It may not be the same DZMM that once dominated the airwaves under a full franchise, but for many Filipinos, its return is a comforting and much-needed presence in today's media landscape.
