After more than two decades, Ruffa Gutierrez is finally making her grand return to GMA Network! You might remember her as the Binibining Pilipinas World 1993 queen and a ‘That’s Entertainment’ darling back in the day. Now, she’s back and ready to serve major drama in the upcoming series Beauty Empire.
Ruffa first stepped into showbiz at just 13 years old, and she’s feeling all sorts of emotional about her comeback. In a chat with GMANetwork.com, she shared how thankful and excited she is for this new chapter—especially since it’s been 21 years since her last project with the Kapuso network.
Beauty Empire sounds super juicy too. It’s all about the fierce and sometimes messy world of beauty moguls battling it out for power, fame, and revenge. Imagine all the drama, glamour, and unexpected twists! Produced by GMA Public Affairs and based on an original idea from CreaZion Studios and Viu, it’s definitely going to be a wild ride.
Joining Ruffa are some pretty iconic names: Barbie Forteza, Kyline Alcantara, South Korean actor Choi Bo-min (his first time working in the Philippines!), Sam Concepcion, Chai Fonacier, Sid Lucero, and even Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz. Talk about a powerhouse cast!
Ruffa couldn’t hide her excitement about finally working with Barbie and Kyline. She even called it a dream come true! On Instagram, she fangirled a little, calling Barbie talented and super versatile. Ruffa also made sure to mention how sweet and humble Barbie is, which honestly makes us love her even more.
Aside from the upcoming drama, Ruffa got a little nostalgic too. She reminisced about starting her career with That’s Entertainment and how GMA also covered her wedding back in 2003. It’s clear that coming back to GMA feels like coming home for her—seeing old friends who are now industry big shots, but still just as kind.
Beauty Empire is still filming right now, but we won’t have to wait too long. It’s dropping first on Viu, then officially premiering on GMA Primetime this June 2025. Mark your calendars because this is gonna be iconic!
