MNL48 Makes a Big Comeback with a Fresh Lineup and an Exciting Collaboration with Quadlips
Before P-pop became a major trend, MNL48 had already captured the hearts of many with their fresh charm and unmistakable Filipino spirit. Recognized as the Philippines’ first-ever idol group, they made waves across Asia, even appearing in popular Japanese magazines and attending international music festivals through their affiliation with the AKB48 Group.
After spending some time away from the spotlight, MNL48 is finally ready to step back into the music scene, bringing along new members and bigger dreams. As the world of P-pop grows, with changing trends, a more active fan culture, and evolving marketing styles, the group is determined to show that they still have what it takes to lead and inspire.
Recently, the group, now composed of Jamie Alberto, Andi Garcia, Dana Brual, Lara Mae Layar, Klaire Presno, Klaryle Mercado, Mechelle Abrio, Joey Ira Panganiban, Caroline Antero, Bhrianna Chua, Rhea Mae Lopez, Christine Joyce Dela Cruz, Rachel Suazo, Kathlene Apduhan, and Charmaine Tosoc—faced the press to share exciting updates about their comeback, upcoming music, and a special collaboration with international idol group Quadlips.
Jamie Alberto, the group's leader, spoke about how thrilled they are to return, sharing that this comeback is about reigniting the passion they’ve always had. She also mentioned that even while some members were busy with school or other personal commitments, the bond within the group stayed strong. They spent their quiet time polishing their skills, strengthening their teamwork, and preparing for this new chapter.
Interestingly, MNL48 sees the success of other P-pop groups not as competition, but as something worth celebrating. They believe that every group is part of a larger family that shares one goal: to bring Filipino music and culture to a wider audience. Jamie encouraged fans to support not just MNL48 but the entire P-pop community, emphasizing unity over rivalry.
During the press event, international girl group Quadlips also joined the celebration, marking the beginning of an exciting collaboration. Quadlips is made up of Hina from Japan, Feni from Indonesia, Fame from Thailand, and Cole from the Philippines.
Cole, the newest member, shared her journey of adapting to her new group. Moving to Thailand was a big adjustment, but with the warm support of her groupmates and management, she was able to overcome homesickness. She also talked about learning different languages and cultures, understanding local gestures, and adjusting to a more intense training schedule, which she said helped her grow both as an artist and as a person.
Fans can look forward to seeing MNL48 and Quadlips perform together at upcoming music festivals, promising even more vibrant performances from these talented girl groups. It’s clear that girl power is alive and thriving in the Asian music scene, with even bigger dreams on the horizon.
