Get ready to see the Eraserheads like you’ve never seen them before — their much-anticipated documentary will finally hit the big screen this March 2025.
The iconic Filipino rock band will be the focus of Eraserheads: Combo On The Run, a documentary that captures the behind-the-scenes story of their epic 2022 Huling El Bimbo reunion concert in Manila. The film promises to dive deep into the highs and lows of the band's journey — from their unforgettable impact on an entire generation to the struggles that came with their heartbreaking breakup and the long road back to the stage.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Maria Diane Ventura, Combo On The Run is set for a special cinema release in the Philippines, showing for one weekend only from March 21 to 23, 2025. The film offers a rare, intimate glimpse into the bond between Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Marcus Adoro, and Buddy Zabala, as they reunite not just to perform, but to bring a little hope and healing to a country facing tough times.
Ventura describes the project as far more than just a story about a band falling apart. She says it’s an honest and emotional look at the real people behind the fame — peeling back the layers of myth to reveal their raw humanity and the cultural legacy they’ve built that still connects with fans across generations.
"Each interview brought out new sides of their story," Ventura shared. "It pushed us to keep digging deeper to tell a richer, more honest narrative. This is probably going to be my first and last documentary — something I chose to do only because of the Eraserheads. They shaped my path in so many ways, and I truly believe they’re the greatest Filipino artists ever. This film is my way of saying thank you."
On January 21, 2025, the official poster for Combo On The Run was unveiled. The artwork was created by Brandon Schaefer of Jumpcut NYC, a renowned designer known for his work on award-winning films like Drive My Car (Best International Feature, 94th Academy Awards), All That Breathes, and even the 40th-anniversary re-release of Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese.
Ventura shared that Schaefer was given a lot of creative freedom, and he came up with several designs, each bringing something unique to the table. "Choosing just one was incredibly hard," she admitted. "There were some beautiful, more abstract versions that I wish we could release too."
Another exciting detail: Combo On The Run is set to make history as the first-ever Filipino documentary to be presented in Dolby Atmos, offering audiences a fully immersive sound experience. The film’s sound was handled by top-tier mixer and engineer Jason Abell, whose impressive credits include Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
Brought to you by Dvent Pictures and WEU, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is gearing up for its big cinema run — with tickets available very soon.
