Dina Bonnevie is reportedly still in the running to continue her role in Mano Po 5: Gua Ay Di despite recent concerns regarding her health. A reliable source shared that director Joel Lamangan had considered dropping her from the project after she fell ill. However, Dina is determined to finish the film, primarily for the sake of her son, Oyo Sotto's girlfriend, Angel Locsin, who plays the female lead. Additionally, Dina is eager to be part of a film that is expected to perform well at the Metro Manila Film Festival, ensuring its commercial success.
The final decision on her participation will be made by Regal Entertainment on November 4, the scheduled first day of shooting for whoever will replace Dina if necessary. Dina is set to undergo a series of medical tests, as her doctors are still uncertain about the nature of her illness, particularly whether it involves the uterus or another part of her body. The public remains hopeful that it's just a false alarm.
In the film, Dina plays Angel’s mother, who disapproves of her daughter’s relationship with Richard Gutierrez's character, instead preferring Christian Bautista, who portrays a singing superstar in Asia, as her daughter’s romantic partner.
If Dina is unable to continue, Cherrie Pie Picache has been named as a potential replacement for her role.
