Gina Alajar recently shared her thoughts on the topic of mistresses during a press conference for Mano Po 5: Gua Ay Di, where she and Tirso Cruz III reprise their roles from Mano Po 1: My Family as a Chinese couple. The conversation shifted to her personal life, particularly her recently finalized annulment from her ex-husband, Michael de Mesa. Gina jokingly mentioned the excitement of being a mistress, but quickly clarified that it was all in jest, emphasizing that she has never been one.
Gina opened up about her relief upon the annulment of her marriage, which had been a long process. She explained that the trial, which lasted two years, was difficult, but now that the legal proceedings are over, she feels a sense of closure and freedom. Her children were also relieved, as they thought the annulment had already happened. Gina never appeared in court during the trial, leaving the process to her lawyer.
Reflecting on the end of her marriage, Gina noted that Michael's "fondness" for women contributed to their breakup, although she didn't specifically refer to them as "mistresses." Despite the ups and downs, Gina and Michael have remained amicable and continue to communicate. Gina even invited Michael's new partner to her son Geoff's birthday celebration, demonstrating her maturity and peace with the situation.
When asked about her future and the possibility of suitors, Gina expressed openness, stating that she isn’t closing any doors. She’s willing to open her heart to someone who would be faithful and loving. Gina made it clear that she wouldn't be interested in a womanizer, and she specified that if her future partner were a bachelor, she couldn’t promise him a child, as she has already raised her family.
For now, Gina is content with her career, focusing on acting and directing TV shows. She doesn't feel the need to actively search for love, believing that the right person will come along when the time is right.
