Angel Aquino recently weighed in on the ongoing squabble between actresses Dawn Zulueta and Gretchen Barretto, which stemmed from reports that labeled Gretchen as a "prima donna" during a shampoo commercial shoot. According to the reports, Dawn was upset with Gretchen for flaunting her expensive clothes and arriving with a large entourage, which included three yayas and five bodyguards.
In an interview with the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) after the screening of her movie Donsol, Angel expressed her thoughts on the matter. She defended Gretchen by suggesting that people should let her be, acknowledging that Gretchen has reached a level of success that allows her to live as she pleases. Angel remarked, "Gretchen has gotten to a certain status [wherein] she can afford who she wants to be. [I say] let’s just let her be."
When asked if she agreed with those who found Gretchen's behavior prima donna-like, Angel responded that it was ultimately a matter of personal opinion. "She wants to be that way, she wants to act that way… if people find that offensive, abrasive, or prima donna then that’s their own opinion," she explained.
Angel also empathized with Gretchen's lifestyle, admitting that if she had the same resources, she might act in a similar way. "If she can afford that kind of a lifestyle, go ahead. I would if only I had the money and the means. Ganun din siguro ako," she said, emphasizing that everyone’s choices are influenced by their circumstances.
