Rachel Brosnahan Lifts Up Angat Buhay and Local Heroes in the Philippines

Rachel Brosnahan, who will soon grace the big screen as Lois Lane in the new Superman film, didn’t just drop by the Philippines to promote a movie; she also shone a spotlight on Filipino community heroes.

During her visit to Manila last June 19 with co-star David Corenswet, Brosnahan took to Instagram to announce she would be donating to Angat Buhay, the non-government organization founded by former Vice President Leni Robredo. She described Angat Buhay as one of the country’s true “local superheroes,” a title many Filipinos agree it deserves.

Known for providing help in far-flung communities and responding to emergencies, Angat Buhay has gained massive support from volunteers and ordinary citizens alike. Brosnahan’s recognition gave its advocates another reason to feel seen and appreciated beyond Philippine shores.

Along with Angat Buhay, Brosnahan also named two other causes close to her heart: Pawssion Project, which rescues and cares for stray animals, and Save the Children, which supports children’s rights and welfare. She shared donation links and urged her followers to lend a hand if they could.

Fans online quickly praised Brosnahan’s thoughtfulness, while Angat Buhay called her a “true hero” in a thank-you post. Pawssion Project and Save the Children also expressed gratitude, saying her gesture boosts their mission to reach more people and animals in need.

While Filipino moviegoers look forward to seeing Brosnahan as the iconic Lois Lane when Superman premieres locally on July 9, many are already calling her a hero in real life for amplifying the voices of local groups that do so much good, one community at a time.
