‘Freakier Friday’ Trailer: Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan Return for a Wild Family Switch
Disney fans, get ready, Tess and Anna Coleman are back, but things are even more twisted this time! The trailer for Freakier Friday, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2003 classic Freaky Friday, has finally dropped, and it’s bringing a brand-new body-swap adventure with it.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan step back into their beloved mother-daughter roles, but the dynamic has changed. Years have passed since their first chaotic switch, and Anna is all grown up, with a daughter of her own named Harper, played by Julia Butters. She’s also preparing to marry her fiancé, Eric (Manny Jacinto), and become stepmom to his daughter, Lily (Sophia Hammons).
Everything seems picture-perfect until another mysterious twist swaps the bodies of not just Tess and Anna, but also their daughters, Harper and Lily. What starts out as a wedding prep weekend turns into four people living each other’s lives, and trying to survive it.
From the trailer, we can already tell it’s packed with humor, heart, and the same quirky energy that made the original movie a hit. As the girls try to navigate this new mess, they even hatch a wild plan to sabotage the wedding, hoping to bring Anna back together with her old flame instead.
Fans online are loving the nostalgic vibes. Many were thrilled to see how much of the original charm was kept in this new take. The movie is directed by Nisha Ganatra and is set to hit theaters on August 8.
The idea for a sequel had been floating around for a while. Back in 2022, Lindsay shared in an interview that she and Jamie had talked about bringing back Freaky Friday. Jamie even pitched the idea directly to Disney, proving that the duo was just as excited as the fans to revisit their iconic roles.
It’s safe to say this new twist on a family favorite will have old and new fans lining up for another round of hilarious chaos.
