Alden Richards Slams Cathay Pacific for Damaging His Million-Peso Bike

Alden Richards, one of the country’s biggest stars, isn’t staying silent after an unfortunate incident with his prized road bike during a recent flight back to the Philippines.

The Kapuso actor, who has been enjoying cycling and running lately, took to social media early Monday, June 23, to call out Cathay Pacific for allegedly mishandling his bike. In his post, Alden didn’t hide his frustration, saying, “This is very upsetting. Shoutout to @cathaypacific for fracturing my bike frame and unloading my bikebox and bike rack on my way home to the Philippines. Please do something about this.”

Reports revealed that Alden’s road bike, believed to be a Colnago V4Rs World Champ edition, is worth more than ₱1.1 million. Sources say the bike was packed securely for his trip to the United States. But when he opened it back home, he found a noticeable crack on the frame.

On top of the damage, Alden also paid for extra baggage for the bike when he flew back from the US. To make matters worse, it was only when he landed in the Philippines that he learned his bike didn’t even make it onto the plane. No staff had informed him about this while he was still at the airport abroad.

The airline responded two hours after Alden’s complaint went viral online, but the reply felt generic to many fans. Through their official Twitter account, Cathay Pacific apologized and said they are looking into it, assuring Alden that his concern is being taken seriously.

Alden’s fans were quick to rally behind him, flooding the airline’s social pages to demand accountability for the damage and the poor handling of his expensive gear.

As of now, the actor has yet to share any updates about how the issue will be resolved. Many of his supporters hope the airline will step up and ensure that travelers’ precious belongings are better protected in the future.
