Dolly De Leon Joins ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2 Cast

Big news for fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender, especially those who loved the live action remake on Netflix. The first season, which debuted last year, brought in strong reactions and gave fans plenty to talk about. Now, with seasons two and three already confirmed, production for season two has officially wrapped up, and the team is preparing to roll cameras for the third.

Among the exciting updates is the casting of two Filipino actors who are set to make their mark on this beloved universe. Dolly De Leon, fresh from her Golden Globe-nominated performance in Triangle of Sadness, will join the cast as twin sisters Lo and Li, advisors to the fierce Princess Azula of the Fire Nation. Although the characters aren't firebenders themselves, they play a critical role in Azula’s firebending journey.

De Leon shared how thrilled she is to take on the roles. Not only is this her first time playing twins, but she also considers it a “dream come true” to be part of such a legendary franchise. For fans of her work, you can also catch her in the ongoing second season of Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu.

Another familiar face entering the Avatar world is Jon Jon Briones. Known for his powerful stage performances and television roles, Briones will step into the role of Piandao in season three, a skilled swordsman and calligrapher who teaches Zuko the art of dual broadswords and later trains Sokka. Briones recently starred as Hermes in Hadestown and played multiple roles in Pacific Overtures. (Fun fact: His daughter Isa Briones starred with him in Star Trek: Picard season 2!)

Season 2 will reportedly dive deeper into the Earth Kingdom, following the Gaang’s journey. While no official release date has been locked in, early buzz points to an early 2026 premiere.

The cast for season 2 is also shaping up nicely. Fans can look forward to Miya Cech as Toph, Chin Han as Long Feng, Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei, Justin Chien as King Kuei, Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, and many more.

It’s exciting to see Filipino talent stepping into the world of Avatar. For many fans back home, it’s a moment of pride, seeing familiar names in global franchises that have shaped our pop culture memories.
