Catriona Gray’s Sweet Words of Wisdom for the New Miss Universe Philippines

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray had some warm and meaningful advice to share with the newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2025, and it’s the kind of reminder that resonates far beyond pageants.

Just before the big coronation night on May 2, Catriona took a moment in an interview with News5 to speak from the heart. Her message? Enjoy every part of the journey. She stressed how fast everything can go by once the crown is placed, and how important it is to stay grounded during the whirlwind of responsibilities that follow.

More than anything, she urged the new queen not to be distracted by the pressure and noise, especially online. In today’s world, where social media can be both supportive and overwhelming, Catriona hopes the new titleholder focuses on her own voice instead of the chatter around her.

Another thing Catriona highlighted was the importance of staying connected to your core, whatever it may be. Whether it’s fulfilling a dream, representing your community, or making your family proud, she encouraged the new queen to hold onto that purpose tightly. That inner motivation will serve as a guide through the tough and beautiful parts of the journey.

She also shared a lovely offer: that the newly crowned queen can always reach out to her. “I’m happy to give her advice,” she said sincerely, reminding everyone how gracious and supportive she continues to be in the pageant world.

Catriona, who captured the Miss Universe crown in Thailand back in 2018, is no stranger to the weight and wonder of the crown, and her words carry the wisdom of someone who’s lived it.

As for this year’s big winner, Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon Province now holds the title of Miss Universe Philippines 2025. The coronation took place at the Mall of Asia Arena, where she stood out among 65 hopefuls. Ahtisa will once again compete on the international stage, this time in the 74th Miss Universe pageant, returning to the same country where Catriona won her crown, Thailand.

Ahtisa is no newbie. She was second runner-up in last year’s MUPH and even represented the country at the first-ever Miss Cosmo pageant, finishing in the Top 10. She also shares history with Catriona, as both were part of the 2018 Binibining Pilipinas queens. That year, Ahtisa placed first runner-up in Miss International.

With that kind of experience and the wisdom of past queens like Catriona behind her, Ahtisa’s journey is definitely one to watch.
