Beloved Comedic Actor Amay Bisaya Passes Away at 67

Veteran character actor and comedian Amay Bisaya, whose real name was Roberto Reyes, has passed away at the age of 67. Known for bringing laughter and charm to the big screen, especially in his iconic sidekick roles alongside the legendary Fernando Poe Jr., Amay Bisaya leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable performances.

His passing was confirmed by a family member and later shared with the public. According to Czlaisa Heart Reyes, granddaughter of Amay's brother Cris Reyes, the actor suffered a stroke. He had also been battling diabetes, a condition he quietly dealt with for years.

Amay Bisaya’s remains will be at his wake in Caloocan from May 9 to 10. After that, his body will be brought to Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City for public viewing from May 11 to 13, giving fans and colleagues a chance to say their final goodbyes.

The Actors Guild of the Philippines (KAPPT) also expressed their grief and support for his family. In a message, they remembered him as a beloved member of the entertainment community and offered their prayers.

While many remember him as the funny and loyal sidekick in action films, Amay’s filmography is also filled with standout performances in movies like Pepeng Kuryente (1988), Tondo: Libingan ng mga Siga (1992), and Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story (2011). These roles not only showcased his comic timing but also his ability to connect with audiences.

Even though he has left the physical world, Amay Bisaya's presence will continue to live on through the laughs and smiles he gave to Filipino moviegoers over the decades.
