Vloggers Shaun Pelayo and Crissa Liaging, known as "Habibi," are under fire after making comments during a Facebook Live that many saw as throwing shade at Anne Curtis. This happened after Anne’s Siquijor trip went viral on Instagram last March 21, 2025, showing the island’s famous spots and boosting its popularity online.
During their April 18 live, Shaun and Habibi expressed feeling overlooked by the Siquijor local government despite promoting the island for years. Their remarks triggered backlash, with many netizens calling them "entitled" and pointing out that Siquijor was already well-known before their vlogs. Some argued that if anyone deserved acknowledgment, it should be Anne.
Despite the criticism, a few supporters defended the couple, saying they had helped in promoting Siquijor and deserved appreciation.
Shaun later apologized through a Facebook video on April 21, saying he didn’t intend to offend anyone and took full responsibility for his comments. He also thanked locals for their continued support and asked bashers to stop sending death threats.
Anne Curtis has yet to respond to the issue.
