Maris Racal Thanks Director Antoinette Jadaone for Powerful Film ‘Sunshine’

After Sunshine made its premiere at the Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy, Maris Racal took a moment to thank director Antoinette Jadaone for bringing such a powerful story to life.

Maris, who saw the finished film for the first time during the festival, was overwhelmed with emotion. She shared her gratitude on social media, saying she had no words — only a deep thanks to her director for creating the story.

She highlighted how important Sunshine's message is, especially in today’s times. Maris described the film as bold, heavy, and something people truly need to see. She also shared her excitement about eventually showing the movie to Filipino audiences.

Photos from Project 8 Projects showed Maris in tears as the audience applauded her performance once the credits rolled. "She bawled her eyes out," the team wrote, proud of her work and journey.

Sunshine tells the story of a young gymnast who finds out she's pregnant just as she’s about to compete for a spot on the national team. On her journey to seek illegal abortion pills, she meets a mysterious girl who strangely mirrors her own thoughts and emotions.

Earlier this year, Sunshine earned the Crystal Bear for Best Film at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, adding to its growing list of achievements.

Maris also revealed that she dedicated an entire year training for her role, pushing herself through tough physical and emotional challenges. She called the project a true labor of love, crafted through "blood, sweat, and tears" after years of preparation.
