Sometimes, love just waits — quietly, patiently.
Former actor Kier Legaspi recently opened up about his relationship with his daughter, Dani Barretto, during an honest and heartfelt conversation with journalist Julius Babao on YouTube.
It’s been a while since Kier and Dani have spoken, and he didn’t sugarcoat that fact. But even with the distance between them, Kier made one thing very clear: there are no hard feelings. He’s not angry. He’s not bitter. He’s simply there — waiting, if and when Dani decides she wants to reconnect.
"I’m always here," Kier said softly. "If she wants to talk, if she wants to meet, my door is open." For him, a father’s love doesn't disappear, no matter how many years pass or how painful the silence might get.
When asked if he felt any bitterness, Kier admitted he did feel a bit of frustration — but it’s more about regret. He couldn’t help but wonder about all the moments he missed, all the advice he could have shared if only they had been closer. "A mother’s guidance is different from a father’s," he reflected.
There’s a certain sadness in his voice when he talked about no longer trying to reach out. He realized Dani may have chosen to step away, and chasing after someone who’s running only creates more distance. So now, he said, he’s leaving it up to God — trusting that someday, somehow, the bond between them might find its way back.
Earlier this month, Kier was spotted in a photo posted by Dennis Padilla, who played a big role in Dani’s upbringing during his relationship with Marjorie Barretto. Kier had nothing but gratitude for Dennis, thanking him for treating Dani like his own daughter when she was growing up.
Through all the silence and the years apart, Kier’s love for Dani remains — patient, steady, and waiting, just like real love always does.
