Dingdong Dantes and Karylle Share Stage on It’s Showtime
Fans of the noontime show It’s Showtime were in for an unexpected blast from the past on June 11, 2025. Dingdong Dantes, who guested on the show to promote his new movie Only We Know with co-star Charo Santos-Concio, appeared in the same episode as Karylle, his former flame. The surprise wasn’t in the guesting itself, but in the quiet tension that some fans couldn’t help but notice.
Though the show kicked off with the usual warm welcome for guests, Karylle was noticeably absent during the opening segment. This didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, especially since she’s a regular host. Instead, she appeared later during the "Kids SONA" segment, where she was paired with Vice Ganda in a game against none other than Dingdong and Charo.
Despite sharing the same stage, there was no direct interaction between the ex-couple. No greetings, no casual conversation, not even playful teasing from the show's notoriously cheeky hosts. That’s quite rare for It’s Showtime, where playful banter is almost a daily thing. Even Vice Ganda, who often jokes around with Karylle whenever Dingdong’s name is brought up, kept things low-key.
Long-time fans may remember a similar moment from late 2023, when Dingdong and his wife Marian Rivera dropped by the show to promote Rewind. Karylle happened to be absent that day too, which stirred speculation online. It turned out she was sick at the time, something she clarified on social media. Still, her absence didn’t stop fans from talking and trending her name on Twitter.
Some netizens reminisced about the former couple’s love team from the 2005 fantasy series Encantadia, where they were part of a complicated love triangle with Iza Calzado. Others simply appreciated how both have clearly moved on and found happiness with their current partners.
Dingdong and Karylle were together for about three years before parting ways in 2008. Today, both are happily married, Dingdong with Marian Rivera, with whom he shares two kids, and Karylle with musician Yael Yuzon of Sponge Cola.
Sometimes, the past doesn’t need to be revisited with words. A quiet smile, a respectful distance, and shared laughter in the background can be enough to show that people can grow, move forward, and be happy in their own ways.
