Nagano Mei’s Career Takes a Hit After Alleged Relationship Scandal with Co-Stars
Nagano Mei, a familiar face in Japanese dramas and films, is now facing a major shake-up in her career after rumors of personal misconduct started circulating online. The actress, best known for her work in Kimi ga Kokoro wo Kuretakara, Burn the House Down, and Super Salaryman Mr. Saenai, is said to be involved in a relationship scandal that’s led to a wave of professional setbacks.
Reports started gaining attention when a popular Japanese tabloid, Shukan Bunshun, claimed that Nagano was allegedly romantically linked to not just one, but two of her co-stars. One of them is reportedly Korean actor Kim Moo Jun, known for his role in Caster, while the other is Japanese actor Tanaka Kei, who, complicating matters further, is already married and has children.
Screenshots of private messages between Nagano and Tanaka later surfaced, quickly spreading online and triggering public backlash. Although none of the parties directly involved have issued a personal statement, the damage was swift and significant.
According to entertainment insiders, Nagano had a full slate of work lined up for the next few years, including film and drama roles, advertisements, and brand deals. However, following the controversy, most of these opportunities have reportedly been canceled. She has already stepped away from her latest project, Toyotomi Brothers!, as her agency moved quickly to contain the fallout.
In an official statement, her agency expressed regret over the situation, saying, “Given the concern and disruption caused to all parties involved, [Nagano] has chosen to withdraw. We sincerely apologize to fans, production staff, and co-actors.”
While this situation has sparked widespread discussion in entertainment circles and online communities, it's also a reminder of how fragile careers can be in the public eye, especially when personal choices come under scrutiny.
