How Mika dela Cruz Took Control of Her Health and Found Confidence Again

Mika dela Cruz, best known for being part of the beloved kids’ show Goin’ Bulilit, recently shared an inspiring update about her weight loss journey, and it’s one that didn’t happen overnight.

She revealed through a heartfelt Instagram video how she dropped from 63kg to 48kg over the course of several years. But more than showing a physical transformation, Mika opened up about the emotional struggles and body shaming that made the process even harder.

Mika tried nearly everything to lose weight, endless workouts, expensive diets, medical programs, and switching from one expert to another. Still, nothing worked the way she hoped. Frustrated and exhausted, she began to lose faith in herself and her journey.

What hit even harder was the backlash she received from people online. Mika admitted that dealing with body shaming comments left her broken and embarrassed. She often felt like hiding, believing she’d never be able to bounce back.

But things shifted when she leaned on her faith. Mika said she chose to see herself through God's eyes instead of believing the negativity around her. She also credited her family and loved ones for being there throughout the ups and downs.

The turning point came when she met Dr. Roland Angeles, who helped her “retrain” the way she ate. With his support, along with her sister and sister-in-law, Mika began adjusting her habits without relying on carbs or sugar. During the early part of her new program, she cut out carbs completely to reset her cravings. Eventually, she used shirataki rice as a substitute, especially when eating dishes with sauce.

She was open with her followers, even inviting questions about her transformation. One asked if she followed a calorie-deficit method or still ate rice, to which she said no, her method was more about reprogramming her eating patterns and managing cravings, not just counting calories.

The post quickly gained traction, especially when fellow celebrities chimed in with their support. Actress Alexa Ilacad left a sweet message cheering Mika on. What made this special was that Alexa is the ex of Mika’s now-husband, Nash Aguas. Fans were thrilled to see the two women getting along, with some even calling it a “queen supporting queen” moment.

People also noticed that Alexa and Mika had recently followed each other again on Instagram. In a separate interview, Alexa confirmed they’d reconciled and had a good conversation, saying that time helped them heal and move forward.

Mika’s story isn’t just about losing weight. It’s a reminder that healing often begins from the inside, through faith, support, and learning to love yourself even when others don’t.
