Lovi Poe, Enchong Dee, and Timothy Granaderos Team Up for Psychological Horror Film ‘The Sacrifice’

Lovi Poe, Enchong Dee, and Filipino-American actor Timothy Granaderos are set to star together in the upcoming psychological horror movie The Sacrifice, a film that will weave elements of Filipino folklore into its chilling story.

Announced at a special launch event, The Sacrifice is directed by Prime Cruz, with an original screenplay written by Jerrold Tarog. The cast also includes filmmaker Lav Diaz, Tommy Alejandrino, and Louie Chapman. Poe’s own production company, C’est Lovi Productions, is behind the project, which has already started filming. However, the release date remains under wraps for now.

For Poe, the opportunity to work with such a talented team feels like a huge blessing. She expressed particular excitement about sharing scenes with the iconic Lav Diaz, someone she had long dreamed of collaborating with.

Tommy Alejandrino kept things lighthearted, joking about the "no pressure" vibe despite working with big names like Cruz, Tarog, and Diaz. He shared that he’s determined to give his best and show what he can do.

Enchong Dee also acknowledged the challenge of working with a team full of accomplished filmmakers. Drawing from past experiences with actor-directors like Laurice Guillen and Gina Alajar, Dee said he looks forward to seeing Lav Diaz in a purely acting role this time — something not many get to experience.

Timothy Granaderos, known for his role in 13 Reasons Why, spoke about how meaningful the project is to him personally. With family roots in Zamboanga, he sees this film as a way to reconnect with his Filipino heritage. Granaderos is excited to witness the blending of cultures and share a story deeply tied to Filipino traditions.

Director Prime Cruz shared that the film’s plot follows five vloggers who enter a forest and stumble upon an ancient secret, setting off a terrifying chain of events.

With its blend of folklore, horror, and cultural pride, The Sacrifice is shaping up to be a film Filipino audiences — and the rest of the world — will be eager to see.
