70-year-old former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada was found guilty of plunder charges and sentenced to life imprisonment or up to 40 years in jail. However, his perjury cases have been dropped.
His son, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, and his former lawyer Edward Serapio were acquitted of plunder charges.
Erap’s lawyers have 15 days to appeal the case to the Supreme Court.
