Francine Prieto, the 5'10" actress, turns heads as she walks into Bizu in Greenbelt 2, drawing awe from patrons and staff alike. Aside from her stunning looks, Francine exudes movie-star charisma.
In our interview, we discovered there’s more to her than just beauty. She’s honest, candid, sweet, and funny — and even took the time to text us later about her latest film, Silip, reminding us to catch it.
Francine remains under the protective wing of Robbie Tan as she balances her work in both film and TV, notably in Bubble Gang and Bahay Mo Ba’To?.
Her current movie marks a reunion with director Joel Lamangan, who also directed her in 1991’s Darna where she played the young Narda. Francine fondly recalls moments from the film, including funny mishaps during a duck-shooing scene.
Francine started growing tall at 13, which led her to join beauty contests like the 1995 Elite Model Look and Body Shots. Her first competition was Eat Bulaga’s Little Miss Philippines in 1988. A pageant stint in 1993 brought her to manager Ces Evangelista, leading to her reintroduction to the movie world by Robbie Tan — and the transformation from Anna Marie Falcon to Francine Prieto.
Despite her height, Francine says men are more intimidated by her sharp Eurasian features. Her father was Norwegian, and though she didn’t grow up with him, she learned he had tried to find her before his death. She hopes to visit Norway to pay her respects someday.
