The Department of Justice (DOJ) has cleared actress Claudine Barretto of the libel charges filed against her by magazine editor Joann Maglipon.
According to DOJ Secretary Raul Gonzales, the department found no libelous intent in Claudine’s statements against Maglipon, the editor-in-chief of YES! Magazine.
The case arose after Claudine accused the magazine of "unfair and irresponsible journalism," with her remarks published in several tabloids and aired on a TV news program.
Secretary Gonzales explained that the actress merely expressed her personal sentiments, and her statements were considered "fair commentaries" that did not exhibit malice or bad faith.
