Melanie Marquez turns down offer to judge in 'Philippines’ Next Top Model'

Former Miss International and supermodel Melanie Marquez turned down an offer to judge in the reality-based modeling search Philippines' Next Top Model.

Melanie would have been one of three judges in the upcoming show—hosted by actress and former beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez-Bektas. Solar Entertainment, which owns exclusive rights to produce the Philippines version of America's Next Top Model, made the offer.

A staff of talent manager Manny Valera, who now handles Melanie, told YES! Online that the reason why the actress-model turned down the offer was because “she wants to get pregnant.”

Ruffa personally suggested Melanie as one of the possible judges of Philippines' Next Top Model during the show’s press launch last September 18 at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino in Manila.

Ruffa said Melanie’s extensive experience in modeling would make her an effective judge.

Melanie is married to her fourth husband, US businessman Adam Lawyer. They have two sons—Adam, 3, and Abraham, 2.

She has four other children from three previous relationships—Manuelito, 24, her son with action star and Pampanga Governor Lito Lapid; Mazen, 16, her daughter with an Arabian businessman; and Maxene Xuxa, 14, and Michelle Zarah, 11, her children with actor Derek Dee.

Philippines’ Next Top Model will start airing in January next year on RPN-9. Auditions for model contestants start in November.

The Philippines is among the 12 countries that own local production franchises of America’s Next Top Model—hosted in the US by supermodel Tyra Banks. Others countries include Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Hungary, Netherlands, Hungary, Israel, Scandinavia, Thailand, and China.
