It’s been a while since we last saw Sunshine Cruz on the big screen, making her latest project, Ligalig, an exciting return. For Sunshine, the film represents a new challenge. In it, she plays the role of a lover and nurse to her real-life husband, Cesar Montano, who portrays a taxi driver caught up in a series of killings. What makes the project even more interesting is that Cesar himself directs the film.
The cast of Ligalig also includes Johnny Manahan, who has been on a break from acting, as well as Katya Santos and Gwen Garci. A potential question arises: will Katya and Gwen spark a new conflict between Sunshine and Cesar? Fans may remember how Sunshine once confronted Juliana Palermo when she and Cesar starred in a film together. However, Juliana has since shared that she and Sunshine have reconciled, and she even expressed interest in interviewing Sunshine for her column in The Philippine Star—though it’s unclear if that interview ever happened.
Ligalig is set to compete in the Metro Manila Film Festival this December.
