All About Angel
Angel Locsin (real name Angel Colmenares) was born on April 23, 1985 in Bulacan. Last year, to save herself the long commute to and from the family home, she bought herself a good-sized condo unit in Quezon City. Aptly, she made this purchase not two days shy of her 19th birthday. While technically independent, Angel continues to turn to her parents for advice and guidance.
This year, she is thinking of getting herself something more low key – a little down time from her hectic shooting schedule. It seems that time off is a precious commodity when you’re the current IT girl in the teen scene.
Angel has been working nearly non-stop since the end of teen show Click, where she played the tomboy Charlie. From movie roles she moved on to don the wings of Alwina in GMA’s groundbreaking fantasy series Mulawin. And then, before you could blink, she’d traded in Alwina’s wings for a much loftier role: that of Mars Ravelo’s heroine Darna. And while she professes that she truly enjoys every day on the set and is having a great time with all her castmates, can one blame Angel for craving a short break?
When she is able to Angel enjoys hanging out in with her friends in the mall. Nothing fancy for this lady! Her hobbies include reading (she loves the Harry Potter series), cooking (her favorite things to eat are chocolates and lasagna) and learning new recipes.
To keep fit, she swims when she has the time. It is a habit she picked up from when she was on the swim team. On the set, rigorous work with her flight harness and practices for her fight scenes seem to do the trick.
A combination of good looks, pleasant personality and down-to-earth common sense have helped pave Angel’s path to stardom. In real life, the low-key Angel similarly never expected the superstardom that beckons her.
And this is part of the charm that has made her a favorite star to thousands of viewers that tune in to watch her – whether she is saving lives as Darna or hosting on SOP Gigsters. It truly does seem that to her fans, Angel is heaven-sent.
